Sordoni Construction Co. was awarded to manage the construction of a two-story tall structural steel platform at the American Dream Entertainment Retail Center, located in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The American Dream Observation Wheel is currently being constructed on this platform.
This platform consists of 10 major Trusses that were assembled in an adjacent yard and transported to the erection site using a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter. The largest truss is 145 ft long, weighing 260,000 lbs (130Tons). In addition, each Truss was erected with a Liebherr LR1750 with the heavy lift ballast weight tray.
Platform construction consists of two concrete slabs on metal deck, electrical components for the wheel, egress stairways, and a bridge. The bridge will tie the structure into the American Dream building to allow entry on to the wheel.
