Sordoni Construction Co. served as Construction Manager for J.C. Penney’s new store located at Gateway Plaza, Brooklyn, NY. This building’s foundation system utilized timber piles, concrete pile caps, grade beams, and a structural slab. The building envelope included concrete precast panels, brick wainscoting, composite metal panels and a glass curtain wall system. Because the project was built on a reclaimed landfill, the building also required an under slab methane evacuation system to insure noxious gases would not escape into the building.
The interior fit-out was also completed by Sordoni in less than 5 months with the same base building team providing a seamless transition in service from start to finish.
